To The Nearest Faraway Place by Batced To The Nearest Faraway Place by Batced
My buddy ~Deadman187 is a huge Third Doctor fan, so I actually thought of him as I worked on this and two more Third Doctor related pieces.

An interesting thing I came up with the other day about the production of Doctor Who: First Doctor-era stories are set around historical periods and alien worlds, with trips to the future; Second Doctor stories prominently feature space stations and snowy mountains; the Fourth Doctor had all three, but for me his producers made good use of redressed sets from old rooms. But for some reason when I think of on-location shots (of which each of the Doctors have done) I always immediately think of the Third Doctor as the era where this was seen the most.

There's an empty lot near my house that had the right depth and angle to imitate the gravel pits that the classic series production on Doctor Who found themselves in to double for an alien world. Problem was that the sun was rolling in and out so I had to time and get everything in as perfect as possible, which puts me pretty well in line with the original series who probably encountered the same problems.

Yep! In my opinion, he's the best classic Doctor.

I'm a Fourth Doctor fan primarily but I wouldn't turn down a Third Doctor episode if anyone ever offered a marathon of his stuff :)

The Third is technically the one I was familiar with...when I lived in Germany we had some reruns of Doctor Who on the base I lived at, and the Third Doctor was the most consistently re-ran, after the Fourth. So I have a deep place in my heart for his stories and attend a thing called Toast to the Third Doctor every year when I can, which is a celebration of Pertwee and the character :)

:) I love Pertwee and the character. I'm not old enough to remember any of the classic Doctors, but I have a heart for the classics, when I was growing up Doctor Who was off air but they started showing re-runs of the Third when I was 12 so he was the first Doctor I ever knew.

Nothing wrong with not being old enough to remember the classic show, just as  long as you've got an appreciation for 'em :) I'm only a little bit older than you, so I never saw the show at all til I saw those reruns.

Lately I've been loving the classic show more than the revived series...something about it just resonates better, I dunno...I was real excited when the surviving classic Doctors got together to celebrate the 50th (and don't get me started on Tom Baker's cameo and it's awesomeness)
